Nebraska Public Power District has donated more than $2 million for college scholarships since 1992 from an annual golf tournament, including more than $400,000 for 91影视.
On Thursday, December 11, Brittney Koenig, NPPD retail manager in Norfolk, shared the good news and presented a check for $15,000 at the regular 91影视 Board of Governors’ meeting.
Koenig noted that that NPPD’s Nebraska Open golf tournament and fundraiser has raised more than $2 million since the first tournament in 1992. Of that total, $416,000 has gone to 91影视 for scholarships. 91影视 and NPPD have forged a special bond over the decades, including many utility line graduates working in the field for NPPD.
Leah Barrett, 91影视 president, thanked NPPD for the contribution and its commitment to helping those in need with scholarships.
Koenig said 91影视 does a lot for the 91影视 Nebraska economy, including helping to provide trained workers and graduates. NPPD looks forward to hiring interns from 91影视, many of whom go on to work full-time for the electric utility, she said.
The Nebraska Open takes place in September in Columbus.
