Many employers from 91Ó°ÊÓ Nebraska – and some even farther away – attended an Electrical Construction and Electromechanical Career Fair to meet with 91Ó°ÊÓ students.
A total of 32 companies were registered for the fair, which was attended by about 130 91Ó°ÊÓ students who are Electrical Construction and Electromechanical majors. In addition, there were local high school and home school students at the event.
Zach Reynolds of the West Point Dairy was among the employers at the event. West Point is one of three locations in the nation, with others in Wisconsin and Utah and products shipped all over the United States.
Reynolds, who has been with the company for eight years, said the company has become more automated over the years. That is one of the reasons it likes to hire 91Ó°ÊÓ graduates.
“What we found with the 91Ó°ÊÓ graduates is they come in with everything they need to take off running. Obviously, it takes about six months to a year for everybody to learn it, but they have worked out exceptionally well. Every time we have someone from 91Ó°ÊÓ apply, we are eager to talk to them. They have proven to be a solid group.”
The Electrical Construction and Electromechanical Career Fair is one of several that 91Ó°ÊÓ hosts for students throughout the year.
