What You'll Learn As An Apprentice
- Develop educational and training programs for children
- Monitor health and behavior of children
- Teach health and hygiene practices to children
- Teach daily living skills and behaviors to children
- Care for children with special needs or mental health disorders
- Discuss child development and behavior with parents or guardians
Hands-On Learning Opportunities and Courses
In the apprenticeship program students gain paid, on-the-job training experience working alongside experienced professionals. In addition to hands-on learning opportunities at a jobsite, students grow their knowledge in the classroom. Classroom instruction in the Child Development Associate apprenticeship includes:
- ECED 1110 Infant/Toddler Development
- ECED 1120 Preschool Child Development
- ECED 1150 Introduction to Early Childhood Education
- ECED 1260 Health, Safety & Nutrition
- HLTH 1730 Pediatric Basic Life Support & First Aid
Program Details
Apprenticeship is an industry-driven, high quality career pathway where businesses can develop and prepare their future workforce and individuals can obtain paid work experience along with classroom instruction.

172.5 hours of classroom instruction and approximately 1 year of on-the-job learning.
Courses follow a traditional college semester schedule and are offered in a hyflex format. Students can attend class in-person, virtually, or fully online.
